Sometimes your Carrd fonts don’t load properly on mobile devices. This is a common issue, especially when using Google Fonts, and it usually comes down to how the fonts are served.
The fix is simple, but easy to miss.
Why fonts break on mobile in Carrd
By default, many of Carrd’s built-in fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. That means your site depends on an external request to render text correctly.
On mobile, this can cause problems:
- Some mobile browsers block external font requests
- Privacy-focused browsers limit Google-hosted assets
- Slow connections delay font loading, causing layout shifts
When that happens, Carrd falls back to system fonts, and your design takes a hit.
Serve fonts locally in Carrd
Carrd includes an option called Serve fonts locally. When enabled, Carrd hosts the font files itself instead of loading them from Google.
This improves:
- Mobile font reliability
- Page load performance
- Typography consistency across devices
And in most cases, it completely fixes font loading issues on mobile.
How to enable ‘Serve Fonts Locally’ in Carrd
- Open your site in Carrd
- Go to Publish
- Click Settings
- Open Options (gear icon)
- Enable “Serve fonts locally”
- Republish your site
That’s it. No other changes required.

Serving fonts locally requires Carrd Pro Standard or higher. If typography matters to your site (branding, readability, conversions), this upgrade is usually worth it.
When you should use this setting
Enable “Serve fonts locally” if:
- You’re using Carrd’s built-in Google Fonts
- Fonts load correctly on desktop but not on mobile
- You want better performance and fewer external dependencies
